Annual Awards Banquet Meeting Summary
This meeting was held on April 11, 2006 at the Amerigo’s restaurant on West End. The meeting began at 5:00 PM, giving attendees a chance to network with other attendees and peruse the 2005 Technical Publications Competitions award-winning entries.

After dinner, Amy Oldham (chapter President) discussed the following chapter business:

• We are in need of volunteers that want to serve the chapter next year as officers. To help new officers learn the chapter positions, we are creating a Chapter Handbook. If you are interested in serving as an officer, please contact Amy Oldham as soon as possible.
• Mark your calendar for the following upcoming meetings:
• STC’s 53rd Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV May 7 – 10:
• Combined STC/ASTD meeting on May 16th at HCA at 5:30 PM

At this point in the program, Amy presented long-time chapter member Rita Johnson with the Distinguished Chapter Service Award (DCSA). This award program was instituted by STC to acknowledge the work of chapter members who provide exemplary service to the Society through their dedication to the chapter and its activities. Rita has continually contributed her time and energy to serve STC and advance the field of technical communication. After Rita’s award presentation, Judith Meyer (Competitions Director) turned to the business at hand—presenting the awards for the 2005 Technical Publications Competition.
