2005-06 Chapter Year Kickoff &
Review of STC International Conference
September 20, 2005
6:00 PM at the Joe Craft Conference Center, Cummins Station, Suite
420
The meeting opened with chapter business, consisting of the following:
- Introduction of officers for 2005-2006 chapter year
President – Amy Oldham
VP / Programs - Emily Parker-Hughes
Treasurer - Jennifer Lambe
Secretary - Jennifer Nunley
Director, Newsletter - Jennifer Nunley
Director, Employment - Joel Butts
Director, Membership - Janet Bran
Director, Publicity - Jennifer Wendell
Director, Competitions - Judith Meyer
Competitions Judging - Eileen Wollam
Co-Webmasters - Geoff Hawthorne and Stacie Baker
- Preview of important dates for the remainder of 2005. Check
the Calendar page of our website for details.
- Our chapter’s first ever Lunch N’ Learn slated
for mid-October. Details TBA in the near future and posted to
website.
- Reminder about the national STC Training Program (October
20-21). Check our website for more information and a link to
the registration information.
- STC Publications Competition deadline is fast approaching
(October 7). For competition entries and rules, contact Judith
Meyer, or get the information from the Competitions area of
our web site. If you want to be a judge, email Eileen Wollam.
Consensus judging will take place on November 19th, 2005.
- Senior member status has been bestowed upon the following
three MT chapter members: April Hannah, Tracy Meyer, and Vicki
Burkitt.
At this point, the meeting shifted to the featured presentation,
which explored the “value-addedness” of STC conventions.
The STC
International Conference Review presentation is divided into
the following sections:
• Finding value in the STC conventions (Emily)
• Bringing session value back to the team (Judith and Laura)
• Persuading Management of the value (Amy);
and can be downloaded and/or viewed by clicking the link above.
Also, Emily Parker Hughes created a handout
about our chapter to share with other STC members from our
region who met with with her at the convention.
The meeting concluded with networking.
