April's meeting began with long-time publications competition chair Kathy Collins receiving STC’s Distinguished Chapter Service Award. Newsletter editor Jim Giordano (a former STC president and publications competition chair) presented the award to Kathy, citing her hard work and dedication over the past four years.

The meeting also featured a discussion of the different types of competitions sponsored by the Middle Tennessee chapter. Jim Giordano reported that the Active Voice had won an Achievement Award from STC's international newsletter competition. Treasurer Greg Hinkle announced his plans for an online competition in the fall. This competition will probably just before the publications competition. More details as plans for both competitions develop.
