Meeting Notes
February 1998 Meeting
Telecommuting
George Cassidy
Tanner Corporate Services hosted a well-attended session on telecommuting.
George Cassidy, whose work at Tanner includes managing telecommuters,
did an excellent job of researching and presenting the topic. Pete Larson,
a Tanner employee who telecommutes from his home in Missoula, Montana,
made a special "ghost" appearance via speaker phone to discuss
his life as as a telecommuter.
Pete also provided his top nine keys for successful telecommuting:
- Take the time to communicate.
- Be clear about expectations.
- Take the time to relate.
- Stick to schedules.
- Give advance warnings.
- Take the time to set up your workspace.
- Make sure you have the necessary infrastructure.
- Structure your workday.
- If at all possible, show your face regularly.

out the HTML version of George's PowerPoint presentation. Also,
the February edition
of Communique, our chapter's newsletter, includes an
article on telecommuting by Shannon Thurman, our chapter's president.
